What is Mission Launch: Discover, Design, Elevate?

Mission Launch: Discover, Design, Elevate is a hands-on career academy simulating the real-world innovation of Space Florida. Students progress through three semesters: Discover, Design, and Elevate, building a theoretical community on Mars ("Operation Red Planet"). From sketching habitats to building motorized rovers and leading crisis simulations, students master engineering, design, and leadership skills.
Mission Launch: Discover
In this course, your space cadet will step into the role of a planetary architect in the Discover semester. Your space cadet will imagine and create the blueprints for humanity’s first off-world community. Using design thinking and low-fidelity prototyping (modeling), they will solve problems regarding space habitats, sustainable farming, and survival. This is where their mission begins, turning wild ideas into visible solutions.
Mission Launch: Design
In this course, your space cadet becomes a hands-on engineer in the Design semester. Moving beyond sketches, they will use real tools and fabrication techniques to build functional machines for the "Operation: Red Planet” colony. Teams will design and construct motorized rovers to cross rough terrain, engineer solar systems, and learn the "test and fix" cycle of real aerospace manufacturing.

Mission Launch: Elevate
In this course, your space cadet will take command as a mission leader in the Elevate semester. This capstone course challenges them to manage colony-wide systems and to solve high-stakes crises, such as power grid failures and governance disputes. They will refine their engineering projects to a professional standard and master public speaking and digital media to pitch their innovations. This course is for the future leaders of the space industry.
